Everything is simpler than you can think, but simultaneously more complex than you can comprehend.

Democracy has proved only that the best way to gain power over people is to assure the people that they are ruling themselves. Once they believe that, they make wonderfully submissive slaves.

The Myth of “Limited Government” (via azspot)

I think Herr Goethe said this more elegantly, “None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free.”

“The moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves as well. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen accidents, meetings and material assistance that no one could have dreamed would come their way. Whatever you can do or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. Begin it now.”      -Goethe
Love Goethe, my only beef with him, at least from historic portraits, is that it seems he never rocked any facial hair.

Beard Token

About

In 1705, Emperor Peter I of Russia instituted a beard tax. Those who paid the tax were required to carry a "beard token".

This site celebrates and explores the bearded aesthetic everywhere. It's 2 parts whiskey to 3 parts testosterone mixed in a two-stroke engine and served in a goat horn. So follow if you're adventurous.
