“His eyes were nature’s special label of one of her malignest creations. Only in two other human beings have I ever seen such eyes as those…. It was the eye of a wild beast, the baleful glitter you have seen in the eyes of snakes, panthers, catamounts, or other creatures of the reptile or feline kind.”
—Oscar Penn Fitzgerald on Seth Kinman

Sean Stanley and Dylan Thomas

“On 3 November, 1953, Dylan Thomas spent most of that day in bed drinking. He went out in the evening to keep two drink appointments. After returning to the hotel, he went out again for a drink at 2 am. After drinking at the White Horse Tavern, a pub he had found through Scottish poet Ruthven Todd, Thomas returned to the Hotel Chelsea, declaring, “I’ve had eighteen straight whiskies. I think that’s the record!” The barman and the owner of the pub who served Thomas at the time later commented that Thomas could not have imbibed more than half that amount.“    (via)

Baron Wilhelm von Gloeden (September 16, 1856–February 16, 1931) was a German photographer who worked mainly in Italy. He is mostly known for his pastoral nude studies of Sicilian boys, which usually featured props such as wreaths or amphoras suggesting a setting in the Greece or Italy of antiquity. From a modern standpoint, his work is commendable due to his controlled use of lighting as well as the often elegant poses of his models. Innovative use of photographic filters and special body makeup contribute to the artistic perfection of his works.
Famous in his own day, his work was subsequently eclipsed for close to a century, only to re-emerge in recent times as “the most important gay visual artist of the pre–World War I era” according to Thomas Waugh.

Beard Token

About

In 1705, Emperor Peter I of Russia instituted a beard tax. Those who paid the tax were required to carry a "beard token".

This site celebrates and explores the bearded aesthetic everywhere. It's 2 parts whiskey to 3 parts testosterone mixed in a two-stroke engine and served in a goat horn. So follow if you're adventurous.
